Sasha Sabherwal is a PhD candidate in American Studies and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She received her B.A. magna cum laude in Gender and Sexuality Studies, International Studies, and Political Science from the University of California, Irvine. Her research interests include Asian American studies, transnational migration, and diaspora studies. Her dissertation project explores the idea of “sacred geography” and transnational religion within the Punjabi American diaspora. By focusing specifically on caste and gender within a regional diaspora, she hopes to underscore the heterogeneity in the broader South Asian diaspora.
