Postdoctoral Associate

Adeem Suhail is a social anthropologist whose work broadly pertains to issues in the anthropology of politics and the politics of knowledge production. His research interests are situated at the intersection of the anthropology of violence, state theory, and urban anthropology. He is  currently working on a manuscript interrogating how the periodic recruitment and subsequent dismantling of groups that wield non-state violence abets the maintenance of political order. The project addresses the relationship between temporality, desire and processes of rule-making and is based on extended field research in Atlanta, Georgia and Karachi, Pakistan. Adeem received his PhD from Emory University and has offered courses in anthropology at universities in the US and in Pakistan.
