Aastha Goswami, the acclaimed Hindustani musician who has spent more than 20 years
performing around the world, has previously graced stages at Yale, Harvard, and Columbia. On
Wednesday, April 12, she took the time to perform for and impart wisdom to students from Yale
Dhvani, Yale’s Indian classical music group, and Yale Avaaz, Yale’s Indian a cappella group.
Goswami elaborated on the raag shuddh kalyan and discussed the important points of the
Hindustani tradition before listening to short performances from Avaaz and Dhvani. She was
accompanied during her performance by Ravi Balasubramaniam YC ’24 on sitar and Ayush Iyer
YC ’26 on tabla.
