Radhika Singha, History, Jawaharlal Nehru University

Radhika Singha teaches history at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Her research interests focus on colonial crime and criminal law, identification practices, colonial governmentality, and the history of borders and border–crossing in South Asia. The mobilization of human, fiscal and material resources from South Asia for World War one has become an intersecting research track. Her book titled The Coolie’s Great War: Indian Labour in a Global Conflict 1914-21 will be coming out in December 2019. Very distinct geography of the war emerges from this exploration of the re-purposing, for global war, of labor regimes which had long served colonial militarism. https://www.hurstpublishers.com/book/the-coolies-great-war/
